Privacy policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This policy covers the Réiteoir apps for phones and watches. Réiteoir is made by Declan Lohan, an individual developer based in Ireland ("I", "me"). I am responsible for your information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: [email protected].
The short version
- There's no account. Your matches stay on your phone and watch.
- When you generate a match report, your voice notes, team sheet photos and match details are sent securely to draft it, then discarded.
- The app records anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, so I can improve it and fix bugs.
- Subscriptions are handled by Google Play and RevenueCat.
- No ads. I don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
What stays on your devices
Match details (code, grade, team names and colours, scores, cards, substitutions, times, settings), voice notes and team sheet photos are stored on your phone and watch. Finished matches and voice notes pass from the watch to the phone over Google's Wear OS connection; the watch then deletes its copies of the voice notes. If you have device backup turned on, Android may include this data in your own Google backup.
What leaves your devices, and why
Match reports (only when you generate one)
When you choose to generate a report, the app sends your voice notes, team sheet photos and the match details to my server, which uses these services to draft it:
- Cloudflare runs the server that receives your request.
- A speech-to-text service turns your voice notes into text.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads the text and photos and drafts the report in rulebook wording.
Team sheet photos may include players' names and clubs; they are used only to fill in your report. Nothing is kept once the report is returned to your phone: the audio, photos and text are discarded. The finished report is stored on your phone only. Reason (legal basis): to provide the service you asked for.
Usage statistics
Google Analytics for Firebase records how the app is used, for example matches started and reports generated, with an app ID, device type and rough location worked out from your IP address. It doesn't include the contents of your matches, notes or reports. Statistics are deleted automatically after 2 months. Advertising ID collection is switched off. Reason: my legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used and improving it.
Crash reports
Firebase Crashlytics sends a report if the app crashes, with technical details such as the device model, Android version and what the app was doing. Reason: my legitimate interest in keeping the app working.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Google Play; I never see your card details. RevenueCat manages subscription status so your paid features work on your phone and watch, and keeps a record of purchases linked to an anonymous app ID. Reason: to provide what you paid for, and to keep records the law requires.
Who else gets your information
Only the services named above, which process it on my behalf and under contract. Some are based outside the EU (for example in the United States); those transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. I don't sell your information, and there are no ads.
How long it's kept
- Report data (audio, photos, text sent to draft a report): not kept once the report is returned.
- Usage statistics: 2 months.
- Crash reports: as long as needed to fix the problem, and no longer than Firebase's standard retention.
- Purchase records: as long as your subscription lasts and the law requires for tax and accounting.
- Everything on your devices: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Deleting your information
Uninstall the app or clear its storage to delete everything on your devices. To ask me to delete usage statistics or purchase records linked to your device, see Delete your data or email [email protected].
Young referees
Réiteoir is made for referees, including referees aged 16 and 17. It isn't aimed at children under 16. It has no ads, no chat and no public profiles.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to its use, or ask for a copy. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change, and anything significant will be shown in the app.
